My Experience in KIPS College

Life in a college is an important and remarkable era in the life of any student. It marks the start of a new chapter which is entirely different from school. College life prepares a student for the challenges ahead by expanding his horizons. Like any student I was excited to go to a college. After my matriculation results, I decided to go to KIPS College as I was familiar with their system and teaching methodology.

During the two years I spent at KIPS College Johar Town Campus, I learnt a lot and also made a lot of friends. The teachers at the campus were qualified and very cooperative. These two years mostly revolved around tests and study. Although there were extra-curricular activities and events, they were not frequent. It was because our principal believed that we should focus more on studies than to indulge in these activities as these are distractions. He used to remind us daily that our goal as students should be:

“To focus on our studies and get in top institutions of the country so that we can serve our country in a better way.”

As a student I took his advice seriously and I strived to excel in studies. But life isn’t only about studies. There are many things to life. As a representative of my class I did convey this message to our principal. I along with other members of the student council urged our principal to arrange some activities for the grooming of students as well as a break from studies. Because students can get burnt out and overwhelmed by the burden of studies. Although our demands were rejected most of the time but sometimes our requests were approved and the college did arrange various events. For example, the college arranged a BBQ Party, Eid Milad Un Nabi conference, welcome party and farewell party.

“College friends are like pocket money, they might not last forever but they make your life a whole lot more fun.”

During my time in KIPS College, I was lucky enough to meet some amazing people and form new and profound friendships. Me and my friends used to study together as well as share a laugh together. If I say that it was because of my friends that college was a wonderful experience than I am not wrong for

“Friends make life a lot more fun”

But there were downsides to college life in KIPS College. The first downside was that there was a lack of proper management in the college. Secondly, teachers used to promote KIPS notes which in most subjects were not up to the mark. At the start of the test session the college forced students to buy books and notes of KIPS and there was no option of refusing. If you didn’t use those specific notes and sheets, you could not sit in exams or classes and you would face disciplinary action. The management was poor and various papers got leaked beforehand. The system of checking papers and handing over those to students was not up to par. We never received the result of first year mock exams and our papers were unchecked till the end of our first-year final exams. Moreover, the college forced students to pay for being absent during the test session with them taking Rs.300/- per day absent. This devastated many students as it summed up to huge amount as some of them were absent for many days.If you did not pay these dues, you couldn’t receive your roll number slip and thus you could not sit in the final exams. Although, KIPS College Johar Town Campus might not be the best institute still my friends and teachers made the experience of college worthwhile and delightful and this is what matters in life.
